In 2005, a team of researchers reviewed the estimated amount of time it took to inactivate viruses using exposure to UVA and UVB radiation from the sun. They developed a predictive model that they concluded "should be a useful step to understanding and eventually predicting the survival of viruses after their release in the environment.
